You will see the admirable Sphinx, which remained important long after the Fourth Dynasty. During the New Kingdom, it was closely associated with the sun god and known as Horemakhet, which means Horus in the Horizon. You will also see the famous Valley Temple of King Khafre. This magnificent temple was not built from ordinary stones; rather, its core was constructed from massive, heavy blocks of local limestone, some weighing up to 100 tons each.
